The NFL has been the subject of controversy over the last year because of the protests taking place.

It initially started as a way to bring light to social injustices against African-Americans but has been spun by opposition as though the players do not respect veterans.

That notion was countered this past Thursday, Nov. 9, as Michael Bennett, one of the more prominent protesters, stood during the anthem as he didn’t want the message to be seen as an anti-veteran sentiment. It’s clear that Bennett wants the conversation to be switched from this anti-veteran narrative to one more focused on social injustices.

This comes at the beginning of Veterans Day weekend where all teams have been paying respect to veterans.

The protests during the national anthem were started by Colin Kaepernick as a way to shine light on social injustices brought against African-Americans. After meeting with former Green Beret Nate Boyer, Kaepernick made the choice to kneel as they agreed it was more respectable then sitting.

It’s time to stop debating what is so wrong about the protests and start talking about the reasons why they were started in the first place and find ways to fix these issues.

This weekend has allowed us to reflect on the sacrifices made by veterans to keep us safe, but it also allows us to look at where we are as a country and how we can use these freedoms given to us to make this country great.

The veterans should be treated with respect as they have served and they attain the value of respect.the protest should stop as they should be treated with more respect and honor .the new players have less experience and smart essay writing service they should not treat their elders with that kind of attitude.
