The Lady Raiders basketball team traveled to Santa Clara, California, on Saturday to take on the Santa Clara Broncos.
The Broncos won the game, 75-70, giving Tech its second loss of the season.
Tech had five turnovers during the first quarter, which resulted in the Lady Raiders falling behind 22-13 at the end of the first quarter.
Going into halftime, the Lady Raiders were seven points behind the Broncos, 35-28.
This was the first time the Lady Raiders trailed at the half.
In the third quarter, the Lady Raiders cut the Broncos lead to one point after an 8-2 run, led by senior guard Rayven Brooks.
Santa Clara had a 37-36 lead before the Broncos went on an 8-0 run themselves.
With a minute left in the game, the Broncos had a 70-65 lead and the Lady Raiders forced a shot but failed to get the defensive rebound.
The Broncos increased their lead at the free throw line.
Santa Clara posted 45 rebounds compared to Tech’s 30 rebounds.
Redshirt junior guard Ivonne CookTaylor led the Lady Raiders with 15 points and also added four assists to her stat sheet.
Tech is now 6-2 on the season and host Incarnate Word at 6:30 p.m. on Monday in the United Supermarkets Arena.
