The 17-10 Texas Tech men’s basketball team earned a sixth seed in the South Region of the 2021 NCAA Tournament and will kick off its appearance in the tournament with a matchup against the 11th seed Utah State Aggies, one of the best defensive teams in the nation statistically, according to ESPN.

On Tuesday, the No. 7 Texas Tech (14-6, 6-5) will play the TCU Horned Frogs (11-8, 4-6) in United Supermarkets Arena. This will be the first of back-to-back games the teams will be playing against each other, with the second matchup to be played in Fort Worth on Thursday.

On Thursday, the Big 12 Conference and Commissioner Bob Bowlsby publicly reprimanded Tech head coach Chris Beard for his ejection on Tuesday night against West Virginia. Beard received a double technical with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game after he fervently argued with the officials.
