The Daily Toreador, Texas Tech’s student-run newspaper, publishes Mondays and Thursdays during the fall and spring semesters and Tuesdays during summer sessions.
The DT, as it is known on campus, has never missed a scheduled day of publication since its inception in 1925. The student editorial and advertising staffs are responsible for all content within the paper and on the website. The newspaper also serves as a designated public forum for members of the campus community to voice their opinions free from administrative control or censorship.
While most of our student employees are media and communication majors, it is not a requirement. The DT welcomes any Texas Tech University student wanting to become more effective global communicators regardless of their major. Students are paid for their work, with the exception of columnists and cartoonists who are volunteers.
The DT is a part of Student Media, which also produces La Ventana, Texas Tech’s official yearbook. Student Media is a part of the College of Media & Communication.
