Due to upcoming severe weather in the area, people of the Texas Tech community are cautioned to be aware of any weather updates.

The National Weather Service in Lubbock, according to a memorandum from the Tech Office of the President, reported a possible occurrence of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

Information regarding weather and safety precautions will be announced on TechAlert, according to the memorandum. Notifications can also be accessed on the Emergency Communication Center website.

For information regarding university closure, cancelling classes or delays, according to the memorandum, one can visit http://www.depts.ttu.edu/provost/finals.pdf.

In the event of severe weather, according to the memorandum, people are encouraged to move to the lowest level of a building away from any windows.
