West Texas Endurance will host the Willie McCool Memorial Half Marathon, 5K&10K at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 4 at the Silent Wings Museum, located at 6202 Interstate 27 Service Road.

Race fees for the even range from $45-65 for adults depending on whether the half marathon or 5K&10K is run, and $30 for 12 and under, according to the West Texas Endurance website. More information and registration for the event is available at www.westtexasendurance.com

The race is hosted in honor of Willie McCool, the pilot of the space shuttle Columbia and a graduate of Coronado High School, according to the website.

“We are honored to once again produce a race that honors a local hero
Willie McCool. We hope his memory will inspire many in our community to not only start the race, but cross the finish line of all of life’s many endeavors," Ainsley Nelson, owner of West Texas Endurance, said in the news release.
